Compelling brand photography is a key pillar of the Faculty of Arts visual identity and has a significant impact on the effectiveness of all communications outputs. We felt it was important to show real Arts people in real Arts spaces, so our team led regular brand photoshoots with the university photographer, Paul Joseph, to keep our image library current and aligned with faculty goals. Photoshoots capture student life on campus, demonstrate teaching and learning environments, showcase innovative research, and highlight key Arts spaces and facilities across campus.

While student, faculty, and staff participants showcase the diversity of the faculty, one key gap in our image library to date is the lack of representation of people with Disabilities. I have initiated a project in collaboration with the UBC Disability Affinity Group and UBC Brand and Marketing team to host an inclusive brand photoshoot. This project is still in development, but aims to expand the UBC photography library so that community members with visible and invisibile disabilities are represented.
