This project began with the idea to create a student-focused merchandise item with the Arts Undergraduate Society (AUS). Informed by a student survey and direct feedback from the AUS executive team, we designed a custom Arts rugby shirt. When we approached the UBC bookstore to support with procurement and storage, they were so excited about the design that they offered to pay for the full order and sell the shirts in store and online.
This collaboration led to an expanded suite of custom Arts merchandise to be sold in the bookstore, including a tote bag, lanyard, and baseball cap. The first run of rugby shirts sold out within a month, and were well recieved by both Arts students and administrators. This initiative increased Arts brand presence on campus, provided an opportunity to produce high quality items, and addressed longstanding issues with brand misalignment in items sold at the bookstore.
